Well I have my new PC up and running. Had a problem with a bad 1.2 266 Athlon
processor but replaced it with a 1.33 266 and everything is working well. I
removed the VIO1 jumper to set the voltage for the DDR memory at 2.5 which was
recommended by Mushkin. My video card rocks, the resolution is unbelievable compared to my old
4Meg card. :-)
November 11 01- Just upgraded
to WinXP and love it so far. Installed a Nic card, and awaiting my new DSL modem
and service from Earthlink.
December
24 01- Received my ADSL
modem from Earthlink. To my surprise their tech support people were working on
Christmas Eve. Got connected and finally the Internet can keep up with my PC.
;-)
March
11 02- Just got back from an hour drive to pick up my new VisionTek Ti 4600
video card. All I can say is it is awesome. I used to get 4000 points from
3dmark 2001, now with the new card I can get over 9100 points. Just a
benchmarking program, but it shows the power of my new card. If you want to
check out my score here is a link:
May
3 02- flashed my bios using "Bios Savior" from version 1002 to 1007.
Replaced my CPU with a brand new retail XP2100+ processor. Finally got 10639 points on 3DMark2001 SE.

ADSL-Modem

ADSL (Asymmetric Digital
Subscriber Line) is the hottest technology for Broadband Internet Access as well
as providing voice services simultaneously on the same copper line. ADSL line
rate using DMT line coding supports up to 8M/1.5Mbps downstream which is more
than 140 times faster than analog modem and 800K/512Kbups upstream for Full-Rate
(T1.413 Issue2 and G.dmt) / G.lite standard. Such asymmetrical nature makes it
ideal for the SOHO environment, where the downstream traffic is typically much
higher than the upstream traffic.
Users can now enjoy the multi-media and real time applications such as online
gaming , video conferencing and other bandwidth-consuming services by
subscribing to ADSL.
